ABOUT DINAH DESIGN  & DECOR

Dinah Design & Decor started humbly as a one-woman show, focusing only on cabinetry service. It grew from cabinetry to interior design, and then to design & build services. Dinah Design & Decor was founded by Dinah Rakhim based in Shah Alam who graduated with a Bachelors in Industrial Design (Hons) and Masters in Design Technology (MA) from Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia.

Although she was never trained professionally as an architect or interior designer, she was brought up with full exposure to Architecture and Interior Design by both of her parents. Before starting on her own, she has acquired more than 8 years of working experience in the kitchen industry locally and abroad; which makes her an expert in kitchen design. She has worked with multiple brands, from high-ends to affordable ones. Among the top-notch brands that she has worked with are kitchens by PoggenPohl, Nolte, Hacker, La Cournue, Rational & Express. As for the appliances, she has experience in dealing with Subzero & Wolf, Liebherr, Bosch & Siemens.

Handling residential clients has always been her cup of tea, but she has also designed and executed a number of projects. In 2014 while working with Khalaifat W.L.L in Bahrain, she handled countertops for a renovation project of twelve Starbucks branches in the MENA region (Dubai, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt) with Alshaya Group.

Besides working in the industry, she has always been interested in contributing to the academic sector by doing research and writing papers about kitchens. She recently published a paper by HRMARS  'Kitchen Solution for Temporary Dwellers' and another paper by WoS, 'Designing a Portable Kitchen Cart with the Influence of Malaysian Culture on Baba Nyonya'.

Dinah Design & Decor started in 2019, when she decided to stop working in the retail industry and started her small service while pursuing her masters. She has managed small cabinetry works as well as design & build services. Now, Dinah Design & Decor has completed more than 10 projects on kitchens, house extensions, cabinetry works and decor services. She has formed a small team with varying backgrounds of expertise, including a senior architect who shares the same passion in helping people to achieve their comfort with better spaces for their homes; a home that reflects you, the client. We are planning to grow further with commercial and more design & build projects.
